Enchanted Garden of Strawberries is a mixed-media form of art. It is made from a clay sculpture that I molded into plaster. I painted them using watercolors and the juice from a strawberry. I then photographed my sculptures and placed them into Photoshop to create this magical fairy garden. I then transferred it onto a piece of wood. When making these sculptures I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with them, I started playing around with paints and textures until it reminded me of some rock monument you would find in the woods. That's when I decided to create this forest. I wanted my viewers to be transported to a fictional world filled with strawberries. mushrooms, fairies and let your imagination run freely. The fairy is on a quest to find these strawberry-shaped rocks that have been out in the forest for centuries, that's why I decided to make them look old a dirty. This is a very nostalgic piece for me because when I was a little girl I loved tinker bell and for my 4th birthday my mom bought me a pair of fairy wings I wore them every day until they got too small. I always dreamed of being a fairy and starting my own fairy garden. So this made my 4-year-old self's dreams come true.
